what have we been up to?

Little Boy turned Five! It seems surreal that I'm old enough to be a mom of a five year old. He starts school this fall and will be gone all day! He's too little! My baby is growing up! We threw him a construction themed party complete with decorating hard hats, dressing up in toolbelts, "constructing" things out of construction-orange playdough, sack races (just because Little Boy wanted to) and a big dump-truck cake. Check out the festivities:

Happy Birthday, Little Boy!

Our Church threw a Princess Ball for all the little girls ages 18 months-11 years and asked the girls to dress up in their formal attire for an evening of dancing and playing with their dads. I don't know of many little girls that have a formal dress, but I decided this was a good opportunity to try my hand at making a poofy princess dress for Little Sister. She looked beautiful and was so excited about the ball! She talked of nothing else for weeks and twirled and danced the night away with daddy.

While daddy and Little Sister enjoyed their daddy/daughter date, Little Boy and I went on a mother/son date. We went out for ice cream, went shopping for daddy a Father's Day present, and played at the playground for awhile. All of us enjoyed the evening. Little Sister got alone time with her dad, Little Boy got alone time with his mom, and Steve and I got to spend some carefree fun time with our kids. We couldn't ask for more!

Yay! I can finally comment! (for some reason, there hasn't been the link to comment the past week. Heh) I love that dress! What a fun bday party. And I bet Little Sister was in HEAVEN getting to twirl around w/her daddy.
