B.O.'s First Thing

Barrack Obama has said "The first thing I will do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act." Really? The First Thing?

Our Country is in economic turmoil and in the middle of a war and the First Thing you will do is sign an act that eliminates state laws that limit abortion and invalidate any pro-life laws passed since Roe v. Wade? The first thing you will do is allow abortion-on-demand for all 9 months of pregnancy? Repeal the partial birth abortion ban! And even better, let's remove the ban allowing the Government to help pay for it. That is an awesome solution. Our country is in debt beyond any one's reasonable comprehension and The First thing you'll do is use government funds to kill a baby? And to make it quicker, smoother, and less trouble for everyone, no pre-abortion education or waiting period required!

What other political issue results in the murder of 1.2 million American children each year? Oh. None.

(a) STATEMENT OF POLICY- It is the policy of the United States that every woman has the fundamental right to choose to bear a child, to terminate a pregnancy prior to fetal viability, or to terminate a pregnancy after fetal viability when necessary to protect the life or health of the woman.

(b) PROHIBITION OF INTERFERENCE- A government may not--

(1) deny or interfere with a woman's right to choose--

(A) to bear a child;

(B) to terminate a pregnancy prior to viability; or

(C) to terminate a pregnancy after viability where termination is necessary to protect the life or health of the woman; or

(2) discriminate against the exercise of the rights set forth in paragraph (1) in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information.

(c) CIVIL ACTION- An individual aggrieved by a violation of this section may obtain appropriate relief (including relief against a government) in a civil action.

This is the entire "law making" part of the bill. It only reverses partial birth abortion bans that don't include an exception for the life of the mother. The rest of the bill just contains rights already given in Roe v Wade. It's a good law.

Ok so I had to check your blog after seeing that you said you were blogging on politics. (I am ashamed that I am not keeping up on your blog in general, seeing as how it involves family..I'm sorry!)

All I can say is BIG FAT DITTO. You know my feelings on the subject.

(and don't feel bad about blogging on politics..half of my blog is Youtube videos and other rants of mine.)

Dear Anonymous,

It’s not a good law if you believe (like I do) that abortion is taking the life of a child. By the time most abortions are performed the baby has a beating heart and a brain waves. It is a person, as individual and unique as you and I, that is unable to survive outside of the womb.

In the “fine print” of the act it states that prior to Roe v. Wade 1,200,000 women each year were forced to resort to illegal abortions. Forced? Somebody forced them? These women chose to end the life of their children via illegal abortions.

“The Supreme Court observed that, `[t]he ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation has been facilitated by their ability to control their reproductive lives.'.” Women DO have control of their reproductive lives. We all have the ability to control our reproductive lives----that’s where the real choice lies.

Dear Anonymous,

My work involves doing OB ultrasound and I firsthand see a beating heart on a fetus that is the size of a grain of rice. There is life the instant that the sperm meets the egg.

A women's choice should be made by using the plentiful use of contraceptives before pregnancy ever occurs. Contraceptives are available to everyone regardless of their economic status. Making a choice to have an abortion is effecting another persons chance to have a life!!
